I once interviewed Kitty Wertheim on my Dr. Gina radio show.  Chances are you have never heard of her.  The media has effectively silenced one of the most eloquent, surviving victims of the Nazi holocaust.  She told of the subtle but slippery slope that befell Europe under Adolph Hitler.  She told of a Jewish population that didn’t want to believe people would really want to kill them.  She told of the day it became all too clear that they were wrong.

Ominously, those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.

I interviewed two women from Code Pink recently, and asked if they understood some basic facts, like that the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, wanted to eliminate the black race.  They hadn’t.  But they reasoned it was “long ago” so we modern women shouldn’t get caught up in those details, despite the fact that ironically, most abortion clinics do their $9 Billion dollar killing in minority neighborhoods.  Ironic.

I also asked the Code Pink women if they knew that the Third Reich was actually a leftist organization, not a conservative fringe movement.  They didn’t know.  Of course they didn’t.  They are typical of the naiveté of so many feminists today who fight so hard for the killing of all the little women.  When this holocaust ends, will their daughters look back and shriek just as the children of Nazi’s do today?

This President is arguably the most anti-Jewish President in history, and Jews are ignoring the facts.  This week, the President agreed to meet with Mohammad Morsi, the President of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.  Almost simultaneously, Obama refused to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.  Obama said he simply had no time to meet with him.  More irony—he does have time this week to attend lavish fundraisers for himself, hosted by Hollywood elite like Beyonce and Jay-Z.  He has time for a tête-à-tête in Vegas.  He has time to do Letterman’s show.

He has time…yes, he has time.

But does Israel?  And does America?

A few years ago, I learned that I am of Jewish lineage.  This made sense to me for a lot of reasons, and I felt an even deeper connection to the plight of Jews, and to Israel.  I am continually shocked by the patent dismissal of Jews to acknowledge the degree of disdain this President apparently holds for Jews.  I will say that I have met more Jewish conservatives over the last four years than ever before, but the reality is that polls say Jews will vote for Obama in high numbers again.

A friend of mine who is Jewish told me that they don’t talk about what Obama has done regarding Israel.  She said there are whispers, but it is as if you have committed a major social err to ask questions or say a word at a cocktail party, or the synagogue.  Why is this?

Setting Netanyahu and all the other issues aside, one issue remains that ought to cause serious pause to anyone who is Jewish, or in any other historically oppressed group: Only a big government can take your liberties away.  It stands to reason then, that the party who wants government out of your way is not the party that wants to control you.  It is really that simple.

If only getting that message to historically oppressed groups were so simple.  If only the media reported on the realities of survivors like Kitty Werthman.  If only history weren’t so very, very cyclical.
