Most new teachers aren’t told when they begin teaching in California that they do NOT have to join a teacher’s union!  The California Teachers Empowerment Network is trying to break through the union barriers to let teachers know the choice is in THEIR hands, not the Unions!

You do not have to join the union, so for pete’s sake stop supporting no on 32! This goes double if you are a Republican, as you are essentially shooting yourself in the foot!!! Let’s get this message out there!

How is banning corporate and labor unions from making political contributions to candidates shooting myself in the foot? I don’t care IF teachers don’t have to join unions – corporations and unions right now still stick their nose into candidate politics and I don’t like it. I think it’s better that they not be allowed to donate and that way the President (or whomever) won’t feel beholden to them and we don’t get 1,000 emails before an election asking us to “pay as much as we can” to try an offset them. Why do you urge us to “stop supporting NO on 32?” Why in the world would I possibly vote “YES” unless there’s hidden “opposite-of-meaning” language in the bill (which I haven’t yet read in it’s legalese form)? http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/vig-public-display/110612-general-election/prop-32/prop-32-text.pdf

OK, I misunderstood what “Just Mary” was saying, but I’ve repented now…sorry Mary. Yes on 32 = stop corporate and labor union donations to political candidates. No on 32 = keep corporate and labor union donations to political candidates. I’ll be voting Yes on 32.
